#10 | What is Masculinism w/ your host Anya Shakh

About This Episode

In this episode, Anya defines fills a gap that we have in our culture by bringing to light a term that is missing, masculinism. Many times, we see feminism and masculinity being placed next to each other (or pitted against each other), but that’s not correct. Feminism is a movement, while masculinity is a life force (apples and oranges).

Etymology is extremely important, when we don’t have the right word or the right definition of a word in our culture, we get stuck. And currently we are stuck because we are missing the word and definition of masculinism. Listen in as Anya introduces masculinism, where it came from, and why we so desperately need to add it to our vernacular. In this short episode, Anya talks about Robert Bly (the father of men’s movement), Egyptian mythology, Indigenous storytelling, and how we can use masculinism in the modern context to help get us unstuck and move forward.
