The Presence of Men
A man’s most powerful tool is his presence.
For women, the experience of a present man can act similarly to the way a female muse has been known to inspire men throughout history.
We typically think of a muse as a woman in her most feminine expression: whimsical, nurturing, open, unattached, and flowing. Men have always been privy to this ability for the feminine to inspire them, but we’ve never thought that perhaps it can work the other way around too?
A male muse is taboo because a muse is meant to just ‘be’ and not ‘do’ and historically men have struggled to find their identity in who they are versus what they do for a living - thus creating a false belief that they aren't needed for their unique energy or gifts and can be easily replaced...
But actually men, you have a unique power that inspires creation and beauty in the world - it’s your presence (or in other words your undivided attention). This is magic for a woman because her whimsical ideas and creative energy are first seen and then are grounded, understood, and encouraged. Masculine presence gives an honest realness that creates safety, confidence, and inspiration for her to create. It is what ultimately sets the creativity in motion because the innate masculine desire to propel forward in life is what’s at work.
It is so needed. Men, you are so needed.
What good is an idea if it never goes anywhere? In contrast - what good is going somewhere if there’s no purpose behind it? This is the masculine and feminine collaborating together.
Guys, your ability to let go of checklists, work, and what’s next is powerful (even for a short time). Call it what you want; a muse, inspiration, power, masculinity - the ability of a man to impact and inspire a woman through his undivided attention is profound.
It’s also the key to discovering more of who you are and less of what you do.
For a woman, when she can first accept and then tune into this gift from the masculine, she’ll flow like never before.
Labeled outdated and sexist, muses get a bad rap but simply defined;
They are the personified sources of inspiration for a creative artist.
They are typically associated with women but that’s just because the first muses in our culture come from Greek mythology and they were Zeus’s daughters.
Here are a few famous male muses from history;
For Jane Austen it was a bold lawyer with a strong personality named Thomas Lefroy. For Frida Kahlo it was Diego Rivera of course, a strong man with plenty of bravado.
Men inspire women by just being themselves. Muses aren’t mythical creatures, they function in our daily lives and it’s amazing when you can recognize who does that for you and begin to value and appreciate them.
Men that are grounded in their masculinity are clear about the unique power of the female and it’s actually one of their missions in life (many times subconsciously) to help women shine brighter.
Men are muses too - we just haven’t given them the chance.
